An Evening with WLI: Networking and Curated Conversations
May 16 | 7:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.

Cultivate meaningful connections at an Evening with WLI, where all Spring Meeting attendees are welcome to attend. We will first convene over hors d’oeuvres and drinks at PWC’s downtown office, just steps away from the Opening Reception. Women leaders from Toronto will then lead small-group discussions around pertinent real estate topics, as part of WLI’s bi-annual Curated Conversations program. Come for one or stay for both parts of the evening. There will be a separate registration fee to attend this event.

High-Impact Developments Led by Women Tour
May 17 | 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Toronto’s rapidly evolving cityscape is being shaped by new developments that foster economic opportunity, creative expression, better housing choices, and improved mobility and social connectivity. While not always visible from the street, many of the city’s high-impact real estate developments have been led by women. This tour will travel through vibrant downtown Toronto destinations: the University of Toronto’s innovation district, the Alexandra Park Community (the revitalization of a 1960s community housing project), and the Waterworks (which repurposed a water plant into new housing, a public park, and a food hall). The tour will showcase a few of the many real estate developments where women have been unlocking real estate value and building the successful city that Toronto is today.

Separate registration is required to join this tour and capacity is limited.

Join the ULI Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) to hear about the unique path to leadership of Tsering Yangki, head of real estate finance and development for Dream Unlimited Corp., one of Canada’s leading real estate companies with over $23 billion in assets across North America and Europe. Tsering’s path is anything but typical, starting her career in international relations before recognizing how economics and politics affect real estate. With a goal of transforming communities in an equitable manner, Tsering found the perfect match with Dream Unlimited, whose strong values and impact mindset drive its work.

DEI & WLI Leaders Exchange
May 17 | 4:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.

Learn from some of the top district councils, as DEI and WLI leaders share their unique projects and programs from the past year. Members will present on both their successes and lessons learned. This session provides a space to share ideas, skills, and strategies to shape future programming and create meaningful connections and community within ULI.

WLI Washington’s Community Engagement Initiative
May 18 | 10:00 a.m.–10:30 a.m.

In late 2019, WLI Washington began looking for opportunities to create mentorship and career development opportunities for young women (and men) who might not historically be exposed to careers in commercial real estate. The chapter found an engaged partner in the Maya Angelou Charter School (MACS) based in Washington, D.C. This partnership and program launched in October 2020 runs for the length of the school year, and provides MACS students in the hospitality and business programs with a case study curriculum focused on professional readiness through the lens of real estate development. In each session, approximately 10 to 15 students learn directly from women and other individuals involved in the entitlement, design, financial structuring, construction, and operations of development. Students “graduate” from the program with an end-of-year celebration including a catered lunch, a site visit to a local development project featured in the sessions, and professional headshots.
