WLI Presents: Next Generation in Life Science Innovation
October 31 | 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
In a mature life science market, regulators and tenants alike are demanding more. The focus now is on how these buildings can deliver—for the tenant, the owner, and the broader neighborhood…not to mention the climate. Join us for a quick round-robin presentation highlighting key emerging trends in the next generation of urban life science development. This discussion will focus on innovative life science intervention in dense urban mixed-use conditions, based on market research and our experience in the rich Boston life science market. From Mass Timber integration to equity-focused cross-programming opportunities, there is something here for everyone!
October 31 | 11:40 a.m.–12:10 p.m.
With the commercial real estate market shifting, outdated or vacant office and retail properties present an obvious opportunity for housing adaptive reuse. This creative idea seems straightforward, but it is not as easy when it comes to real life. It becomes extremely challenging under the complicated California land use and building policies. See how the City policymakers, the developers, and the designers come together to work out a feasible plan. Hear the lessons learned, and the plans for Los Angeles moving forward.
November 1 | 7:30 a.m.–9:00 a.m.
Start your morning with WLI Americas for coffee and refreshments. Join us to meet other women in a relaxed and welcoming environment with the goal to broaden and enrich professional networks and strengthen industry connections.
November 1 | 10:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
Learn from some of the top district councils, as DEI and WLI leaders share their unique projects and programs from the past year. Members will present both their successes and lessons learned. This session provides a space to share ideas, skills, and strategies to shape future programming and create meaningful connections and community within ULI.
WLI Presents: A View from the Top
November 1 | 2:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m.
Join the ULI Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) for its signature program, which will include a panel conversation with Los Angeles’s most respected female business leaders. This is an opportunity to meet women who helped shape L.A.’s business landscape.
An Evening with WLI: Curated Conversations Dine Arounds
November 1 | 6:30 p.m.–9:00 p.m.
Los Angeles’ culinary scene is back in full swing, with many great women-owned, developed or chef-led restaurants. The WLI Curated Conversations Dine Arounds will be an intimate dining experience in small groups to cultivate meaningful connections. We will first convene at the LA Convention Center. Each dinner group will be hosted by a ULI LA WLI member, who will lead their small group on a walking tour to their restaurant destination. Groups will enjoy a seated dinner featuring inviting fireside chats to discuss key issues and topics of the day. This separately ticketed event is open to all Fall Meeting attendees. Limited spaces are available.
WLI Presents: Avoid Project Slow Downs by Streamlining Funding Draws
November 2 | 10:00 a.m.–10:30 a.m.
Walk through typical Loan Agreement terms that concentrate on monthly draw payments! Attendees will look at requirements of the developer and the contractor for draw processing with project examples, best practices and risk management. This session will also cover timing required for review by the Lender and related key considerations.
WLI Presents: Make Art Drive Future Cities & Creative Solutions
November 2 | 11:40 a.m.–12:10 p.m.
Future Cities & Creative Solutions investigates pressing issues cities face today — and how dynamic art activations are now being leveraged to reimagine cities for the future. Art beckons culture, and now more than ever, art is a catalyst to change the narrative, enliven commercial vacancies, and build healthy communities. This panel is composed of creative visionaries who will reveal methods and insights for creative solutions and site-specific curation to address today’s challenges in public and commercial spaces.
