Mike Covarrubias is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TMG Partners. Mr. Covarrubias chairs TMG’s Investment Committee, oversees all of the company’s operations and has directed the company since 1995.  His professional background includes 17 years with Union Bank, including commercial and real estate lending as well as administrative management. In his last position, he served as Senior Vice President and Manager of Union Bank’s Silicon Valley Regional Real Estate Center.  Mr. Covarrubias is a graduate of the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Mike Covarrubias has been an active member of the Urban Land Institute for 21 years.  He serves on the local San Francisco District Council advisory board and participates at many ULIsf events including YLG’s Learn From the Best and ULIsf’s Emerging Trends conference.

Jeff Barber
Principal
Gensler

Jeff is the Southeast Regional Design Leader at Gensler. Previously a Co-Managing Director of Gensler’s Washington, D.C. office, Jeff also has served as a rotating member of the firm’s Management Committee. He is an award-winning architect and is an Architectural Design Director for Gensler’s global Commercial Office Building Developers practice. Jeff often leads large integrated projects, providing expertise on the design of the base building, as well as the interiors. His point of view bridges the shared interest of both building owner and user to create designs that successfully depict both parties’ objectives. Under Jeff’s leadership, Gensler’s Washington, D.C. office was named to The Washington Post’s inaugural 2014 Top Workplaces ranking.

He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and a frequent speaker on design insights at real estate and design industry events. Jeff is a Designated National Design Peer of the GSA Public Buildings Service, Design Excellence and the Arts Program. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Yale University and a Master of Architecture from the Yale School of Architecture.

Terrall Vern Budge

Loci

Terrall Budge is an owner and principal at Loci in Salt Lake City, Utah. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Utah State University and a Master of Landscape Architecture with Distinction from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. At Harvard, he was awarded the Jacob Weidenmann Prize for outstanding design talent. For the past ten years until opening his new firm in early 2014, Terrall was a Principal and Partner of Design Workshop, serving as Principal‐In‐Charge of the Salt Lake City office.

His projects have received numerous awards including Honor Awards from the Utah Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects for the master plan of a new campus at Moab, Utah for Utah State University and the Daybreak New Community Parks and Open Space plan in South Jordan, Utah. Other notable projects include the award‐winning Utah Museum of Natural History with Ennead Architects and the winning plan in a national design competition for Symphony Park in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. He is currently leading the master planning effort for a new urban transit‐oriented neighborhood on two city blocks adjacent to Downtown Intermodal Hub for the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City. His professional expertise includes new community planning, urban design, resort master planning and parks and open space planning and design.

In other professional activities, Terrall has served as co‐chair of the Advisory Board for the Department of Landscape Architecture at Utah State University for the past three years. He has also served as an invited guest on several international design panels and symposia in Asia and was an invited jury member for the 2009 Incheon International Urban Design Competition for Students in South Korea. He has also been a member of ULI Advisory Services Panels in Greenwood Village, Colorado and Monterrey, Mexico.

Mr. Budge has over 20 years of professional experience, is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and is a registered landscape architect in the State of Utah.

Dr. Sujata S. Govada, AIA, AICP, HKIP, HKUID, CoA, LEED AP

Dr. Sujata S. Govada is an award-winning urban designer, certified town planner and registered architect with over 30 years of international experience. Dr. Govada is the Founding and Managing director of UDP International, an independent urban design & planning firm based in Hong Kong since 1994. She has been extensively involved in transit-oriented development, urban regeneration, harborfront planning, affordable housing and several master planning, urban design & planning projects in the region. Some of her award-winning projects include the Central Harbourfront masterplan, Harbourfront Connectivity Study for Hong Kong, Graham Street Alternative Proposal for Urban Regeneration. Dr. Govada also spends her time spreading awareness of sustainability & urban design excellence, teaching, research and creating new opportunities with industry organizations such as ULI, HKIUD, APA, AIA, etc. She was Project Lead & Report Author for two well-received ULI urban research studies conducted in Hong Kong (regarding integrated largescale developments) and Metro Manila (regarding sustainable urban integration), respectively. Recently, Dr. Govada has been appointed as a Global Trustee for ULI, and HKIUD representative for the Harbourfront Commission of Hong Kong. She has also been elected Vice President of the American Institute of Architecture Hong Kong Chapter.

Jason Hellendrung
Vice President, Planning and Design
Tetra Tech, Inc.

Jason Hellendrung, ASLA is a Vice President and Director of Planning at Tetra Tech. In this role he directs landscape architecture, planning, and urban design work on a wide range of (complex) urban, public infrastructure projects.

Mr. Hellendrung maintains a special interesting and practice in the evolution and transformation of cities through infrastructure improvements, including the redevelopment of urban waterfronts and the integration of transit. His past projects include the HUD Rebuild by Design project for the Jersey Shore, developing 8 community reconstruction plans for NY rising, redevelopment of the Allegheny Riverfront in Pittsburg, and development of Shelby County’s application to HUD’s National Disaster Resilience Competition. Mr. Hellendrung served as Managing Principal of the Cedar Rapids River Corridor Redevelopment Plan and implementation of several design projects developed to guide the city’s recovery from their historic flood in June 2008 He was also the project manager of the urban design and landscape architecture for the Healthline BRT and transformation  of Euclid Avenue in Cleveland.

He is responsible for project management, coordination with clients including multi-stakeholder teams, and leading and facilitating public participation.

Sophie Henley-Price

Sophie leads the business development and marketing efforts for the European Division of international design practice, Studios Architecture, based out of Paris. She joined STUDIOS in 2007 and was promoted to Associate Principal in 2011 and then Principal in 2013. In April 2015 she was named Managing Director of the Paris office. Prior to joining STUDIOS, Sophie had an extensive career in publishing – serving as Associate Publisher of the Art Newspaper and previously Illustrated Books Commissioning Editor at a variety of high profile publishers both in Paris and London. She has an MBA (INSEAD) and a First Class honours degrees in French Literature and Art History (UCL, London).

Lance K. Josal, FAIA

Lance K. Josal FAIA is the President and CEO of Callison RTKL, the global architecture, planning and design practice. A 35-year veteran of the industry, Lance was named CEO of RTKL in 2009 and has led them through continued growth and prosperity in spite of global economic challenges. In January 2015, he was named the CEO of both RTKL and Callison, the international architecture practice acquired by ARCADIS, RTKL’s parent company, in August 2014.

A strong and talented leader supported by a skilled management team, Lance has played an integral role in reshaping the practice model for global architecture firms. While under his leadership, RTKL has remained profitable, healthy and expansionist, especially in such markets as Asia and the Middle East. In his new role, Josal will focus on aligning two of the most prominent names in commercial architecture into the most innovative design practice in the world.

A frequent speaker and author on large-firm management issues and mixed-use development, Lance and his work have been recognized by regional and local AIA chapters, the APA, MIPIM, ICSC, the Congress for New Urbanism, and the Urban Land Institute. He is an officer of the AIA Large Firm Roundtable. In March 2009, he was elevated to the American Institute of Architects’ College of Fellows in San Francisco for his contribution to advancing the profession of architecture.

A graduate of North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota, Lance holds Bachelor Degrees in both Art (’77) and Architecture (’78). Throughout his career, Lance has maintained a relationship with his alma mater, serving as a founding member of the North Dakota State University Department of Architecture Advisory Board. He and his wife, Karen, live in Dallas, Texas.

Jeff Kingsbury

Jeff Kingsbury is managing principal of Greenstreet Ltd., an Indianapolis-based real estate development, brokerage and consulting firm focused on leveraging anchor institutions as catalysts for community redevelopment. Jeff’s experience includes over twenty years in the planning and development of thirty urban, suburban, rural and resort communities throughout the United States, encompassing over 35,000 acres. He has been a principal in the development and disposition of over $350 million in real estate, and consulted on planning, economic development and regulatory issues for private sector clients as well as cities, counties and non-profits in sixteen states. Jeff has been a senior advisor to Cherokee, the leading private equity firm investing capital and expertise in brownfield redevelopment, with more than $2 billion under management.

His experience goes beyond planning to investment and execution, with a project portfolio that includes the leading redevelopment models in the nation: the 4,700-acre redevelopment of Denver’s Stapleton International Airport, the nation’s largest urban redevelopment project; Belmar, a 103-acre regional mall redevelopment in Lakewood, Colorado; Lowry, an 1,866-acre redevelopment of the former Lowry Air Force Base in Denver; and Homan Square, a 55-acre redevelopment of the former Sears, Roebuck and Co. world headquarters in Chicago.

Jeff holds degrees in urban planning and development and environmental design from the College of Architecture and Planning, Ball State University, where he has served as Adjunct Professor of Urban Planning. Active in education and community affairs, he has served on the governing boards of Ball State University; the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics and Humanities; and the Golden Apple Foundation in Chicago. A teacher and frequent speaker, he is a co-author of the book Developing Sustainable Planned Communities, published by ULI in 2007.

In addition to serving on the Global Awards for Excellence Jury and ULI’s Advisory Services Program, Jeff is the founding Chair of the Redevelopment and Reuse Council and former Chair of the Sustainable Development Council. He also serves on the Advisory Group on Climate Change, Land Use and Energy and is the Vice Chair of Mission Advancement for ULI Indiana.

M. Leanne Lachman

M. Leanne Lachman is president of Lachman Associates LLC, an independent real estate consultancy and an Executive-in-Residence at Columbia Business School. Previously, Ms. Lachman spent four years as managing director of Lend Lease Real Estate Investments, a global institutional investment manager. Prior to that, she was a partner of Schroder Real Estate Associates, a boutique real estate manager. Her early career was with Real Estate Research Corporation, where she served as chief executive officer.

Lachman is a frequent speaker and her publications include “Global Demographics 2009: Shaping Real Estate’s Future,” and “Generation Y: America’s New Housing Wave” (2011). Ms. Lachman has published articlesin Pension World, Real Estate Review, Journal of Housing, Growth and Change, NationCities, Assessment Digest, Mortgage Banker, Urban Land, National Real Estate InReal Estate Today, Governmental Finance, Real Estate Forum and Investment Policy.

Lachman is on the boards of Lincoln National Corporation, Lincoln Life & Annuity Company of New York and Liberty Property Trust. She is a trustee of the Urban Land Institute and a governor of the Urban Land Foundation. Ms. Lachman is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry and The World Who’s Who of Women.

Lachman received her bachelor of arts degree in 1964 from the University of Southern California and was awarded her master of arts degree in 1966 from Claremont Graduate University.

Jacinta McCann

Ms. McCann has worked for more than 35 years to enhance the quality of cities and communities around the globe. In the past 28 years while at AECOM, she has held both practice and management executive roles at regional and global levels. Originally from Sydney where she worked on large scale urban regeneration projects including the Sydney Olympics, Ms. McCann has continued to work on complex urban development projects including Mission Bay in San Francisco, Nova Luz in Sao Paulo, Bonifacio Global City in Manila, and the Los Angeles Waterfront.

Ms. McCann has served in various capacities with the ULI including the National Program Committee, the Global Awards for Excellence Jury, and as a ULI Daniel Rose Fellow. She is a currently a member of the Recreation Development Council. Ms. McCann’s professional appointments include President of the Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF), the San Francisco Bay Conservation Development Commission (BCDC) Design Review Board, and the University of New South Wales Faculty of the Built Environment Advisory Board. Ms. McCann was honored in 2014 by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the 100 most influential business women in the Bay Area.

Steve Navarro

Steve Navarro represents and advises corporate, institutional, and high net worth individuals. His advisory services extend to over 23 states and four countries, ranging from development projects, built to suit transactions, highest and best use analysis/implementation and acquisition and disposition of both leasehold and fee title. Public sector experience includes advisory services for multiple municipalities and the federal government. Until 2014 Steve Navarro was owner, president, and Broker-in-Charge of CBRE | The Furman Co., the leading brokerage and management firm in the state of South Carolina.  In 2014 CBRE, Inc. acquired   CBRE | The Furman Co. and Steve transitioned to his role as Executive Vice President of CBRE’s Greenville, South Carolina office.

In addition, Steve is President and CEO of The Furman Co., Inc. based in Greenville, South Carolina. Steve oversees Furman’s three operating companies that specialize in Development, Investment Advisory Services, and Risk Management. Founded in 1888, The Furman Co., Inc. has a long history of being instrumental in the recruitment and development of new business and industry to the region. Through Steve’s leadership, and collaboration in both the public and private sectors, Furman has helped facilitate major changes to the real estate landscape across the Upstate.

Steve guides Furman’s Consulting and Development activities in the delivery of Corporate Advisory Services. The Furman Co. represents and advises numerous major national and international corporations, including all of the top ten employers in the Upstate of South Carolina, as well as institutional investors and portfolio owners. Public sector experience includes advisory services for multiple municipalities and the federal government.

Steve holds designations with the Counselor of Real Estate® (CRE), is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), and was named a Fellow with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) based in London, England.

He is a trustee and member of the Board of Directors for the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a governor for the ULI Foundation, a juror for the ULI Global Awards for Excellence, a member of the Clemson University’s Advancement Board for Real Estate Development (ABRED) and past trustee of the Board of Directors for the Counselors of Real Estate® Foundation. Steve is also co-founder and past vice chair of the Board of Directors of Ten At The Top (TATT), and a past member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce and Furman University’s Board of Advisors.

Steve graduated from California State University-Fullerton, with major emphasis in Real Estate/Finance and a minor emphasis in Economics.

Trini Rodriguez, AICP, RLA

Trini Rodriguez is a Founding Partner, Principal and President of Parker Rodriguez, an urban design, landscape architecture, and planning firm located in the Washington Metropolitan area. She previously served as the head of design for the nationally renowned planning firm HOH Associates, Inc.

Ms. Rodriguez holds degrees in Architecture from Universidad Central de Venezuela and a Masters of Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania.  She is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and recently participated in several ULI Advisory Panel including one in Frankfurt and Offenbach, Germany and one in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. She has also been a member of the Global awards Jury for ULI.  She is a LEED accredited professional, a Professional Landscape Architect, Certified Planner and Architect with a variety of project experience ranging from building design to small- and large-scale urban design, landscape architecture and master planning projects.

Ms. Rodriguez has managed and designed an extensive variety of projects with differing scales, scopes and complexities throughout the United States and abroad. She has interdisciplinary expertise that has served a broad spectrum of public agencies, institutions, private developers and corporations.  Ms. Rodriguez has been a lead landscape architect and planner for the design of scores of urban infill mixeduse developments, numerous award-winning Greenfield PUD’s, as well as new towns throughout the Washington Metropolitan Region and across the country.
