Truly healthy homes are those that are well-located and well-connected to the neighborhood and larger community. Housing Opportunity 2014: Healthy Housing, Healthy Places in Denver this May 14-16 will explore those connections in a series of sessions framed through a transit and placemaking lens:
- Mile High Connects: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Equitable Transit-Oriented Development Session (Thursday at 11:00 a.m.) will highlight an innovative model in Denver that demonstrates how transit intersects with affordable housing, education, health, jobs, and community organizing.
- Transformative Place Making for Neighborhoods, Housing, and Health (Thursday at 3:00 p.m.) will explore how to expand the connections between housing and transit through corridor redevelopment, complete streets, tactical urbanism and equitable transit-oriented development.
- Join the The Better Block (Thursday at 4:30 p.m.) general session to learn more about this effort to support community re-visioning using living charrettes and neighborhood participation.
Each of these sessions will feature an outstanding line-up of speakers, including: Jason Roberts, The Better Block Project; Catherine Cox Blair, Natural Resources Defense Council; Marisa Novara, Metropolitan Planning Council; and Robert Ogilvie, ChangeLab Solutions.
