WASHINGTON (May 8, 2014) – Today the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Terwilliger Center for Housing has announced the names of 14 men and women chosen as this year’s Housing Leaders Scholarship winners. Scholarship recipients will have their registrations expenses covered for this month’s Housing Opportunity 2014: Healthy Housing, Healthy Places conference in Denver, Colorado.

The Housing Leaders Scholarship Program was created this year through the generous support of J. Ronald Terwilliger, former ULI chairman and chairman emeritus of Trammell Crow Residential. The new program will provide registration scholarships to a selected class of leaders each year to support their participation at the annual Housing Opportunity conference through 2017. The goal of the scholarship program — aimed at housing leaders employed in the public and not-for-profit sectors and directly engaged with housing development, policy, or practice – is to offset the registration costs that might prevent professionals in the public and non-profit sectors from attending the Housing Opportunity conference.

This year’s conference takes place May 14-16 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Denver. Programming focuses on how healthy design intersects with the housing industry goal of expanding opportunities for residential development. The conference lineup includes national experts on residential development and housing policy, in addition to panels covering a range of industry issues.

Housing Opportunity 2014  is the institute’s premier housing event and regularly attracts a diverse mix of private and nonprofit real estate developers, public officials, urban and regional planners, housing advocates, smart growth and sustainability experts, architects, investors and lenders, and real estate agents.
