Annual industry event to draw a diverse showing from Commercial Real Estate across the country – including developers, architects, engineers, urban planners, investors, brokers, and more
WASHINGTON, DC / LOS ANGELES (October 10, 2023) – From October 31-November 2, 2023, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) will bring the fall edition of its annual conference to Los Angeles – one of the largest gatherings for cross-disciplinary real estate professionals to explore a range of issues and challenges facing the industry in Los Angeles, the United States and globally.
This year’s Fall Meeting will explore how market conditions and prevailing geo-political scenarios will impact the industry’s long-term prospects. Multiple activations will also examine the recent housing policies in LA and their potential impact on streamlining the building of affordable homes, including panels that will seek to address the growing magnitude of the homelessness crisis in the City of LA and the Greater LA County. Attendees can also expect to delve into the challenges and opportunities of adaptive reuse in commercial real estate and how it is changing the landscape of our communities and highlighting the importance of placemaking. Speakers and panels will touch on themes ranging from downtown and urban core revitalization to climate resiliency strategies for real estate and more.
ULI’s Fall Meeting will feature 200 speakers, more than 70 sessions, and 21 tours — including “LA’s New Housing Policy – Will it Work?” and “How Can We Revive the Downtown Core” — to over 5,000 attendees. All tours part of the Fall Meeting will take place in and around Greater LA County – including an exclusive look at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, the Intuit Done, Google’s innovative workspace, historic downtown LA, and more.
Throughout the conference, there will be an abundance of opportunities to engage with industry and community leaders on some of the biggest challenges facing cities today, as well as some of the top market trends that are on the minds of real estate practitioners and investors in the year ahead, including:
The meeting will also feature remarks from LA Mayor Karen Bass and Mariana Mazzucato, PhD, Professor at the University College London and author of “The Big Con”.
“As a proud Angelino, I am pleased to welcome leaders from the global real estate industry and invite them to explore the vast urban development opportunities our vibrant city has in store,” said Clare De Briere, ULI Americas chair and executive vice president and regional manager for Skanska USA Commercial Development’s Los Angeles market. “LA stands as a dynamic nexus of entertainment, sports, and economic prosperity, attracting both businesses and tourists from every corner of the globe. Our city is also uniquely positioned to be a model for others across the world as it continues to advance priorities to spur the production of new affordable housing, revitalize the downtown area, and advance long-term efforts to achieve equity and sustainability.”
“ULI LA is a vital convener of the LA real estate industry – bringing together diverse voices and tools to address urban development challenges that LA is currently facing,” said Marty Borko, ULI Los Angeles executive director. “Our work over the past few years has been focused on addressing the changing landscape around us. The issues facing land planning, social justice, affordable housing, homelessness, healthy places, mobility, innovation, and sustainable growth were our priorities, yet with a key goal of bringing new and diverse perspectives to our teams.”
