ULI’s Building Healthy Places Book Club is designed to spark thought and conversation around health, social equity, and real estate.
Our Spring title is Brave New Home: Our Future in Smarter, Simpler, Happier Housing. Author Diana Lind offers a provocative diagnosis of the current American housing crisis and a radical reimagining of future possibilities.
Participation is free and requires registration. All registered participants receive a suggested reading schedule, weekly email thought starters, and a link to attend three virtual meetups.

Mid-Book Discussion Groups, April 29, 4 pm ET
Host Lisa Gordon, president and CEO of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, will lead guided discussions designed for sharing reflections from the first few chapters.
Talk with the Author, May 27, 4 pm ET
Having finished the book, chat with author Diana Lind about her diagnosis of the current housing crisis and call for a radical re-imagining American housing.

Diana Lind, Author
Diana Lind is a writer and urban policy specialist who has worked at Architectural Record , Next City, the Philadelphia Inquirer and the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently the Executive Director of the Arts + Business Council for Greater Philadelphia and the Housing Fellow at the global nonprofit, NewCities. She lives in Philadelphia.
Lisa Y. Gordon, CPA, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity—one of the top 10 Habitat for Humanity International affiliates in the United States. She is a recognized leader in transformational redevelopment efforts for quality affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization. Before joining Atlanta Habitat, Lisa was Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Atlanta BeltLine, Inc., cabinet member in former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin’s administration, City Manager of East Point, GA and Assistant City Manager of Austin, Texas.
