National Housing Exchange
Elevating and Replicating Success: ULI District Council Housing Exchange
In addition to implementing its study panel campaign, the Terwilliger Center launched a National Housing Exchange in November 2021. The Exchange members (which include staff and members who make up local product councils or task forces dedicated to housing) have agreed to collaborate to scale up their impact through peer-to-peer engagement and enhanced support from the Terwilliger Center. The Center curates expert speakers to present on specific topics identified by Exchange members. The Exchange also offers an opportunity to present local housing work to a national audience for real-time feedback and knowledge sharing. As of July 2022, about 47 members from 17 District Councils are part of the Exchange.
Topics addressed in Exchange meetings to date include the following.
- Attainability/affordability and the ULI Home Attainability Index
- Rent regulation
- Residential development trends
- Missing-middle housing
- Office-to-residential conversions
- Housing attainability in resort communities
- Annual ULI housing award winners
- Progress report from Boise, ID, study panel
- ULI Homeless to Housed Initiative
- ULI Boston listening sessions with the public officials
- Affordable Housing Toolkit, developed in partnership between the Housing Development Consortium of Seattle-King County and ULI Northwest
