ULI HINES STUDENT COMPETITION SITE SELECTION CRITERIA
• Support ULI mission, and priorities
• Support competition goals: education, youth engagement, outreach, multidisciplinary practice, etc.
• Offer geographic diversity, new opportunities for members, and exposure of ULI’s work and best practices. (Unless conditioned by unforeseen/programmatic circumstances, the competition is commonly hosted on a new/different city each year.)
• Provide a built environment framework with development momentum, challenges, and complexities that can generate a meaningful competition brief. While the competition is based on a made-up premise, and there is no intent to implement any of the proposals, it is very much based on reality and the actual feasibility and potential impact of the submissions.
• Offer strong local resources and engagement via ULI District Council, municipality, private sector, and other related organizations. Access to GIS resources, planning documentation, and local expertise is essential.
• Provide two/three potential sites for evaluation and if pre-selected an informal tour before making a final decision.
Those interested in having their city/sites considered for selection are encouraged to prepare a letter of interest in coordination with their ULI District Councils addressing the points above. Letters of interest should be sent to [email protected] with the subject line “ULI Hines Student Competition City Nomination.”
