Essential to a Health in All Policies (HiAP) approach across communities and sectors in the District of Columbia, Jaime’s role with DC Health’s Office of Health Equity includes the development and implementation of a collaborative Health Impact Review Process related to the built and natural environments, including land use, transportation, housing, and community design and development.
Previously, as California Walks’ deputy director, Jaime supported the organization’s statewide programmatic, policy, and advocacy work while also fostering partnerships in transportation safety in San José and across Silicon Valley. In 2017 Jaime established the organization’s Walk San José program to fill in a gap in local pedestrian advocacy, and in 2019, the City of San José designated Jaime as their inaugural Climate Smart Transportation Champion.
Prior to joining California Walks, Jaime worked with City of Greenbelt, Maryland, as a community planner. Before attending the University of Maryland—College Park for a Master of Community Planning, Jaime worked for over a decade in the bookselling and publishing industries. Jaime is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and she has served on a number of advisory committees and boards focused on land use, transportation, and equity.
