    The ULI Americas Young Leaders Group (YLG) Steering Committee is seeking members to get involved in subcommittees for the FY 2024 program year.     Vivian Yap

    Avison Young

    Vivian is a graduate from the School of Urban and Regional Planning (Spring 2022) at the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). While at school, Vivian found that her interest gravitated toward the commercial real estate industry. As the pandemic affected more than half of her time at university, she saw it as an opportunity not only to reflect on the changes in the industry but also to get more involved with the Urban Land Institute. Vivian is an active member of several committees, both locally and globally. Vivian was also the recipient of several scholarships, including the RioCan Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Scholarship, the TorontoCREW Scholarship, and the Victoria Joly Legacy Scholarship. Now, Vivian is working at Avison Young as a research/ data analyst focusing on land and development properties across Ontario. She is excited to get involved and contribute to the world of land use planning and real estate. Vivian is participates in various ULI committees both locally and nationally.

    Matthew Boker

    Olson Kundig

    Matt Boker has over 8 years of experience in mixed-use and residential design. Recently relocated to Seattle, Washington, Matt is currently an Architectural Designer at Olson Kundig Architects. Prior to Olson Kundig, Matt trained in New York City for 10 years in varying typologies, including luxury condos and master plans in New York, mixed-use developments in Washington D.C., commercial projects in Argentina, and a museum proposal in Israel with ODA New York. Prior to ODA he worked for Woods Bagot designing large mixed-use tower projects in New York , Sydney and Beijing. Matt Boker earned his Master of Architecture at Pratt Institute after achieving a B.S. at the University of Idaho and student teaching its architecture program in Rome. He is LEED AP BD+C certified, is an active member of ULI, and is on ULI America's YLG Steering Committee.

    Shayan Rajabi

    Principal, Avant Development

    Real estate investment professional with over 12 years of experience in acquisition, development, and management. Collaborative and focused on creating projects that enhance the human experience, striving to deliver sustainable projects that encourage surrounding communities to thrive. Professionally invested in quality and thoughtful design, guided by the principle that good design is good business as a steward of the built environment. Experience with single family, multifamily, and value-add transactions worth over $200M at every stage of the development process.

    Rachel Koehring

    Director of Marketing & Business Development, Goree

    After graduating from the University of Kansas in 2012 with a degree in Anthropology and Psychology, I continued her professional career at Limited Brands, first in a managerial capacity and later, leading their training and development efforts in the Houston market. After 10 years with them, I transitioned into the Houston AEC industry in a business development capacity at an engineering firm. Currently, I am the Director of Marketing and Business Development for Goree, a full-service architecture and design firm where I spearhead the company’s marketing and business development efforts across their geographic and market portfolio. I have been actively involved with ULI since joining the industry and continue to volunteer my time to multiple initiatives. I am a member of the Houston Council's Management Committee, Chair of the Building Industry Leaders program, Co-Chair of the UrbanPlan program, a Committee Member of the Development of Distinction Awards Committee and WLI, and a participant in this year's WLI Amplify Program. When I'm not in the office, you can find me spending time outdoors with my husband and two dogs, checking out the newest restaurants or bars in Houston, watching sports, or gaining experiences through travel.

    Liza Perry

    Project Manager, CBRE

    Liza Perry serves as a Project Manager on the CBRE Miami Project Management team. Liza graduated from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill in 2011 with a degree in journalism. She's worked on public relations and social media campaigns for major consumer goods brands in Chicago and then lead social media for Fortune 750 health care technology firm in Kansas City. After deciding to make a career change, Liza graduated from the University of Miami Business School with an MBA focused on real estate development. During graduate school, Liza held internships with The Comras Company and Invest Capital Group. She is active within several local non-profits and energetically participates in various real estate industry associations.

    Nick Bartholomew

    Director of Development, Centennial

    Nick Bartholomew is an Asset Manager with Pine Tree, an owner/operator of shopping centers across the United States. Prior to joining Pine Tree, Nick worked as a Development Associate for Starwood Retail Partners, where he was responsible for designing strategies to revitalize assets in the portfolio, underwriting potential redevelopment opportunities, and assisting with all phases of project execution, from entitlements through construction. Before that, Nick participated in SRP's Leadership Rotation program, where he gained experience in the Leasing, Finance, Property Management, and Development disciplines. Nick graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2016 with an undergraduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning and a minor in Business and in 2017 with a Master of Urban Planning. He graduated with honors and received the Illini Real Estate Forum, CCIM John Keepper Society, and Roger Cannaday Scholarships. While in school, Nick held internships with Newcastle Limited, Weiss Properties, Webster & Associates, and the U.S. Corps of Engineers. He obtained his American Institute of Certified Planners credential in 2020 and serves as the Co-Chair for the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation’s Real Estate Challenge. Nick is an active member in the Urban Land Institute (ULI), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), American Planning Association (APA), and Young Real Estate Professionals (YREP).

    Amanda Herzberg

    Communications Manager, Cushing Terrell

    A strategic communicator with a growth mindset. By applying a writer's empathy and a learner's thoughtfulness, I help build brand affinity and craft compelling and meaningful messaging. I focus on research, strategy-building, and process improvement and can often be found experimenting with new ways of doing things. At Cushing Terrell, I am the Strategic Communications Manager, always aspiring to share brand stories in new and impactful ways.

    Maridarlyn Gonzalez

    Senior Researcher, Pew

    Mari Gonzalez works at the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) as a public participation planner. She has interests in public participation, equity, smart growth, and economic development. Mari has a M.S. in Geospatial Technology & Geodesign and a B.S. in GeoScience, Energy, and Policy from the Pennsylvania State University and has work experience in affordable housing and community development.
