Amalia Leighton Cody, PE, AICP is passionate about finding creative ways to redefine and reconfigure the public realm. Over the last 15 years, she has partnered with a range of disciplines to identify policies and practices that allow for reallocation of public spaces specifically within the streetscape. Her favorite projects implement scalable solutions to increase safety, promote health, facilitate access, and support resilient environments in all types of communities.
Amalia is a licensed civil engineer and certified planner and is the Director for Seattle office of Toole Design Group, a firm that specializes in multimodal transportation. Throughout her career she has focused her professional and volunteer engagement around policies and designs that inform how we live, work, and move around in their environment. Amalia served on the Seattle Planning Commission for 10 years and promoted health to be integrated into the Comprehensive Plan. She currently serves on the Board of Futurewise, a Washington State non-profit focused on livability, housing, transportation, social justice, environmental justice and environmental quality. Amalia participated in the ULI Center for Sustainable Leadership in 2013 and excited to broaden her ULI network through this program.
