Background and Summary of Recommendations
From September 23rd-28th, ULI members traveled to Wolfsburg, located in Germany to serve on an Advisory Services panel that was sponsored by Wolfsburg AG. The city, where Volkswagen is headquartered, is going through a change where the automotive industry is evolving rapidly. Recognizing these changes and the impact it has on the city, Wolfsburg AG asked the ULI panelists to give their recommendations on how to transform Wolfsburg into a vibrant and attractive place to live, while being ahead of the curve on mobility.
Over the five days, panelists toured the city by bus, and interviewed over 30 stakeholders involved in the project. This included a cross section of city officials, business representatives, developers, investors, architects, and citizens. In their short time in Wolfsburg, the panelists evaluated the existing plans for the city and its regional context, including what potential existing and future economic and placemaking opportunities can come from the city. On Friday, the panelists presented their final recommendations to Wolfsburg AG.
