Wai Chiong joined the MOH Office for Healthcare Transformation in 2019 and leads the Integrated Health Promotion effort, which aims to implement a comprehensive set of integrated, coordinated initiatives concurrently in test precincts, to co-create environment and community norms which would make healthy behaviors the default. These efforts to make healthy living easier in every neighborhood entail interagency and multisectoral collaborations. His teams develop initiatives for mental wellness and financing schemes to support new models of care. He started his career as a practicing Family Physician and went on to hospital management, policy leadership, investment, board and advisory roles across public and private sectors: including Executive Director of National Medical Research Council, Director Health Wellness Program Office for Economic Development Board, Group Director of Clinical Manpower, Quality Resource Management of the Regional Health Clusters, amongst others. Prior to joining MOHT, he was Partner for Healthcare Sector in Deloitte Southeast Asia.
