Vin Ferrara has a diverse healthcare background, comprised of over 25 years of experience as a researcher, entrepreneur, operator, management consultant, and healthcare investor. Vin is a Managing Director with Ziegler, a Chicago-based firm with a nationwide presence and long history of supporting investments into real estate projects related to land use and building construction, with an emphasis on human health. Vin has taken a particular interest in the topic of building healthy places and in addressing the social determinants of health, of which homes and communities are at the very top of the list. As the married father of four children, Vin is also very interested in the health and wellbeing of children, and the ways in which healthy homes and communities can benefit children of all ages and backgrounds.
Prior to joining Ziegler, Vin was a Partner at Concord Health Partners, a healthcare private equity firm, where he actively engaged in sourcing and supporting innovative companies in the fields of healthcare technology and services, with a focus on helping U.S. hospitals and health systems. Vin launched his business career as founder and CEO of Xenith, which helped change the paradigm for concussion prevention and management in sports. He subsequently served as a management consultant within the healthcare practice at global consulting firm McKinsey & Company, then as a member of the corporate strategy and medical affairs teams at Biogen, a leading neuroscience biopharmaceutical company, and was chief business development officer at Thorne HealthTech, an innovative consumer wellness company. Vin received an MD from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, as well as an MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, where he focused on topics related to healthcare venturing. Prior to graduate school, he worked for three years as a research fellow at the Transplantation Biology Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital on protocols designed to increase availability and success of organ transplants. Vin is a graduate of Harvard University, where he was a Government major.
