Nearly 600 real estate and planning officials gathered at the Ronald Reagan Building on April 3 for the 2014 ULI Washington Real Estate Trends Conference. The conference theme, “Lifestyle: Changing the Way We Design and Build,” acknowledged that we are in the midst of an exciting and unsettling transformation in our daily lives like nothing we’ve seen before. Home, work and play are merging into a continuous, commingled lifestyle, provoked by shifting demographics and changing cultural values, and fueled by innovative technology.

Attendees came to learn about national and global trends that will affect development in the coming decades. From the opening presentation by demographer James Chung to the closing Generations panel, the day was full of thought-provoking information and opportunities to discuss ideas with industry peers.
