The University Connections Experience: Fall Meeting 2023 from the Student Perspective
ULI Americas is working to provide opportunities to gain first-hand exposure to industry contacts and practices through its University Conne
February 2022 marked the beginning of the Undergraduate Pilot Program for ULI’s University Connections Initiative. The virtual program intends to introduce students to ULI Student Membership and connections to local, national, and global networks of leaders who are ULI members and inspires them to become leaders throughout their careers.
The programs featured were available both live and on-demand on the ULI Learning platform.
- February 3rd– Kickoff / Welcome to ULI webinar
- February 15th– Career Pathways in Commercial Real Estate/ Presenters: Reesa Fischer and Kaitlin Kincaid, Keller Augusta
- March 17th – Peer Networking / Meet students in other disciplines and markets.
- March to May – Employer Series / Three webinars by ULI member companies to introduce students to their work and career paths.
- Employer Series Session 1-March 24th Jonathan Rose Companies
- Employer Series Session 2-April 28th LendLease
- April to June – Mentorship Rocket Pilot Program / One round of small group “flash” mentoring sessions with ULI members. (Ongoing)
- May 26th – Commencement / Keynote Speaker: Katerina Milovanoska, Director BIM/VDC – Gafcon Digital Inc.
In addition, student participants were given additional benefits.
- Foundations of Real Estate (FoRE). Free access to the first course, Introduction to the Foundations of Real Estate, in the FoRE certificate program, an on-demand, video, and tutorial-based introduction to commercial real estate offered on ULI Learning. The full certificate is five courses with 30+ hours of instruction and supplemental reading.
- ULI Knowledge Finder. Access to limited, curated content specifically for students from ULI’s award-winning global real estate library. Knowledge Finder has the latest ULI reports and publications, including research reports, Case Studies, Emerging Trends in Real Estate®, Advisory Service panel reports, and thousands of events from around the world.
Because the program is a pilot, the length ran a semester, with the mentorship program running until the end of summer. Year two of the program will begin in late September and offer a full year of enriching programming for students.
