All About the TC
The mission of the Terwilliger Center for Housing is to ensure that everyone has a home that meets their needs at a price they can afford. Established in 2007 with a gift from longtime member and former ULI chairman J. Ronald Terwilliger, the Center’s activities include technical assistance engagements, forums and convenings, research and publications, and an awards program. The goal is to catalyze the production and preservation of a full spectrum of housing options.
In Fiscal Year 2025, the Terwilliger Center:
- Promoted learning and connection for 5,500+ people at in-person and virtual events.
- Published housing content that reached 36,000+ readers, including our signature Home Attainability Index, which was read and downloaded almost 5,000 times, and publicized via 9 presentations to District Councils that reached 1400+ attendees.
- Grew ULI’s annual Housing Opportunity Conference to record attendance with 585 attendees, providing space for connection and collaboration for diverse members of the residential development, lending, investing, and policy community.
- Published 24 Urban Land online articles showcasing the Terwilliger Center’s program of work that reached 26,000+ readers.
- Grew the Homeless to Housed (H2H) initiative, which completed its first three years of work, including the second cohort of District Council technical assistance partnerships and nine case studies with 1500+ views.
- Leveraged ULI’s annual housing awards program to publish four case studies providing comprehensive examples of affordable housing developments.
- Drove community change with eight Technical Assistance Panels and seven collaborative housing events with District Councils, bringing valuable member expertise to complex housing challenges.
