Track 1 |  Places for people: Shifting markets and the social drivers behind them

The real estate market is constantly evolving, and these shifts have a direct impact on the underlying socioeconomic stresses that exacerbate the impact of climate hazards on communities. To navigate these complexities and reduce risk, it's essential to understand and support the development of social resilience, which can reduce vulnerability and is a key determinant of a community’s ability to withstand climate hazards. Real estate leaders can intentionally understand and support the development of social resilience through data and investment in social infrastructure as a climate strategy to reduce risk and support community capacity to respond to hazards and improve quality of life. These efforts can generate a multitude of benefits including meeting new demands for development, enhancing asset value, and increasing marketability.
