ULI Healthy Places Book Talks
The ULI Healthy Places Book Talks series is designed to spark thought and conversation around books exploring the intersection of health, well-being, social equity, and the built environment.
The Healthy Places Book Talks series builds off the BHP Book + Film Club which launched in the Spring of 2020 to foster community during a time of social separation. The program is free and open to all and events will feature a facilitated conversation between authors and ULI member leaders.
ULI Healthy Places Inaugural Book Talk: Inclusive Transportation – In Conversation with Veronica Davis & Shonda Wang
Join us for the inaugural ULI Healthy Places Book Talk on Friday, January 26th 1pm ET, where we embark on the next chapter of the Building Healthy Places Book + Film Club. In this first installment, we’ll dive into Inclusive Transportation: A Manifesto for Repairing Divided Communities by Veronica Davis, a groundbreaking work that tackles the inequities within our transportation systems, emphasizing the crucial role of empathy and determination in reshaping a system that has long favored automobiles and divided communities. Davis provides practical guidance for those eager to champion justice and equity in community development through transportation, advocating for diverse leadership, improved training, better communication, and enhanced data collection. Don’t miss this powerful conversation with Veronica Davis, facilitated by Shonda Wang, as we explore the path to a more equitable and just future in transportation and development.
