The Annual Refresh
The ULI Product Council Annual Refresh (formerly know as the Draft) is a yearly process beginning in May to manage the large number of rotations and roll-offs (based on term expiration) at the end of the ULI fiscal year (July – June). This is also the first opportunity of the new fiscal year to add new members, however, you are encourage to add new members whenever you see fit. You can use these documents to familiarize yourself with the draft process as well as tools to help you conduct the Annual Refresh.

Use this Excel sheet to log in changes to your council including additions, re-appointments and transfers (those whose terms have expired on other councils, who are being invited to join yours.)

Below is a list of reports you may request in order to assist you in making informed personnel decisions for your council. You may also request all of the below reports as an “Annual Refresh Packet”.
- Bio Book
The Bio Book is a directory that contains biographical information about all members of your council. All information included is provided by each member through their ULI profiles. Members can update their information by logging in to members.uli.org
- Class Sheets
Class sheets show you all your expertise ratios, leadership, new appointments, drops, those rotating off and members by class year. Learn more about reading your class sheet here.
- Full Council Roster
This is a listing of everyone on your council and contains a wealth of other information.
- Guest Lists
You may only request Guest Lists from the past two most recent meetings. If you have since appointed one of the guests they may still be on this list, this is just to remind you who you have invited when considering all the possibilities for appointments during the draft.
- Latest Navigator Report (Interest List)
This is a list of ULI members that filled out a form on Navigator over the past 18 months whose interests align with that of your council. Learn more about reading the interest list here.
- Leadership Roster
This is a listing of only those on your council that are part of its leadership.
Appointments and Member Requirements
Refreshing membership on your council is an important requirement of council leadership. Councils should have at least 55 members. Considerations in member selection include expertise and diversity along every dimension such as professional role, geographic region, gender, age, race and other factors to ensure rich and varied perspectives.
Members are appointed for terms of up to five years. Each term ends at the end of the ULI fiscal year, June 30th. You may appoint someone to your council for a term of 1 to up to 5 years initially. Regardless of stated length of term, continuing membership is at the discretion of the chair and leadership team.
Council Members agree to:
- Be a full member of ULI. (Click here for full membership pricing options)
- Commit to the yearly council fee, currently $725, and in most cases a dinner fee of between $275 and $1000 dependent on the council
- Attend at least 2 out of any 3 meetings
- Actively participate in council discussions and volunteer for speaking or moderating roles when asked.
