Background and Summary
From June 24th-29th, ULI members traveled to Pilsen, located in Chicago, IL, to serve on an Advisory Services panel that was sponsored by the City of Chicago. Pilsen is a primarily Latino community, facing issues of gentrification and displacement. During the week, panelists went on a walking tour through Pilsen, spoke to various community members, and interviewed 50 community stakeholders to better understand how the proposed development site could best serve the community, preserve its culture, and achieve the city’s goals. On Friday, the panelists presented their final recommendations to the Planning Department and Alderman Danny Solis.
