The Minnesota Preservation Plus Initiative (MPPI) recently released a new study exploring the challenges in preserving unsubsidized affordable rental housing. The report, called The Space Between: Realities and Possibilities in Preserving Unsubsidized Affordable Rental Housing, makes recommendations for policies and strategies to identify and preserve these units. The learning and recommendations from the extensive study are applicable both locally and nationally. ULI Minnesota was part of the research team to connect the research with local market application and public policy and respond to the growing need to preserve and improve this critical housing stock. The work was completed with guidance from the strategic partners: Family Housing Fund, Minnesota Housing and the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund.
