Metramarket is an urban development in downtown Chicago spanning two city blocks with 100,000 square feet of street-level retail and restaurants. Located in an over 100 year old structure owned by Metra and known as Ogilvie Transportation Center, MetraMarket occupies the block bound by Canal, Washington, Clinton and Randolph Streets. This area of Chicago is known as the West Loop, one of the city’s fastest-growing residential neighborhoods and commercial office submarkets. MetraMarket’s anchor tenants include Chicago French Market, Ovie Bar and Grill, CVS/Pharmacy, Lavazza Espression and Le Pain Quotidien.
One of the many successes of the Market is its creation of a cost-effective and high-traffic marketplace for small local artisans and purveyors who may not be able to afford their own storefront. Featuring nearly 30 individual vendors, Chicago French Market brings together the best-of-the-best from Chicago neighborhoods and outlying areas to offer an array of local and certified organic produce, meats, fish, seafood, breads, pastries, sweets, cheese, spirits, artisan-made goods, flowers, and distinctive prepared meals and snacks for busy customers. The Market is largely comprised of entrepreneurs (including start-ups), family-owned businesses and accomplished purveyors.
The location of this exceptional redevelopment helps create a compact, walkable community centered on a high-quality rail system. At street level, and connected to Ogilvie’s bustling suburban commuter concourse, the Market serves as an accessible one-stop destination that caters to loop workers, area residents, commuters and tourists alike.
