Menaka is originally from Saint Paul, MN and has recently returning home after seven years in the Bay Area. Currently, she is the lead planner on the Ford Site where she leads proposed amendments to the Ford Master Plan through the City Council, coordinated environmental review, and works on the public private partnership between the City of Saint Paul and Ryan Companies. Prior to moving home, she served as legislative aide to an elected official in San Francisco and worked at the Oakland Department of Transportation where she completed the Pedestrian Plan and started the City’s first street mural program. She was also a senior planner at the San Francisco Planning Department, where she worked on a variety of projects such as a density bonus for affordable housing, community outreach for commercial corridor initiatives, the adoption of the Housing Element chapter of the General Plan and served on the legislative team. Prior to SF Planning she worked at Prevention Institute, a national non-profit dedicated to primary prevention and focused on the connection between the built environment and public health.
