Khatereh Baharikhoob
Title: Senior Urban Designer
Organization: DIALOG
Location: Toronto, Canada
Khatereh is a passionate urbanist who strives to make the world a better place to live, work and play. During the past eight years of her profession, Khat has worked on numerous projects at a variety of scales both locally and internationally. Her experience entails land use planning, ecological planning, urban design and landscape architecture at regional, municipal and development scales.
Khat strongly believes that community planning and design decisions have a significant impact on population health and well-being of citizens. At DIALOG, she advocates “Community Wellbeing Framework” which is an effective tool prepared in collaboration with Conference Board of Canada to help design professionals determine the factors that define community wellbeing, and identify how they can be addressed through design. This useful Framework and Methodology is comprised of domains, indicators and metrics that can systematically address wellbeing along a variety of project types and scales. Khat actively uses this tool to measure the performance of urban environments related to good design and planning. In her view, it is a critical time to be an urbanist and a very special moment to plan for a secured future. She believes a change is a guarantee and as urbanists, we are responsible to prepare for it.
Khat enjoys travelling, listening to people’s stories, learning about different cultures, camping and practicing yoga.
