The Urban Land Institute, located at 2001 L Street, NW, has paid internship opportunities for outstanding graduate and undergraduate students.

Since 1947, Advisory Services panels have helped communities find strategic, practical solutions for the most challenging issues facing today’s urban, suburban, and rural areas. During a concentrated one-week effort, panels address challenging real estate and land use issues and provide solutions. The Advisory Services team works closely with local governments, private developers, and community development corporations and puts together a team of esteemed ULI members to find strategic, implementable solutions to help solve communities’ challenges. Overview of Internship:

Interns could participate in a range of activities, including:

• Compiling and summarizing historical data for the Advisory Services program;
• Developing substantive content for ULI.org, particularly focusing on winners and finalists of the different awards programs, Advisory Services panels, and other related events;
• Assisting with preparing material in graphic form, using charts, tables, PowerPoint, and other presentation tools;
• Supporting the preparation and management of special events such as webinars and team retreats;
• Helping with organization of the team’s online files and processes;
• Conducting research about the impact of Advisory Services panels; and
• Helping with other administrative duties.

Requirements:

Strong candidates will preferably be graduate students but may be undergraduate students in real estate, urban planning, or a closely related field. Candidates should be detail-oriented and have strong project management and research capabilities. Good computer skills (Microsoft Office) are essential and Adobe Photoshop or InDesign skills are a plus. Web content management, image manipulation, and mapping skills are preferred. Candidates should be passionate about land use issues and community development. Strong written, oral, and verbal communication skills are a must.

Hours:

The ULI summer intern program will run from June 6 through August 7. Workweeks are 37.5 hours.
