Inclusive Excellence
Our Commitment to Inclusive Excellence
As a nonprofit membership organization, ULI is committed to working with and for people across boundaries. We do not discriminate based on gender, race, background, or other classes protected by applicable law.
ULI has been a leader in helping to grow and broaden the real estate industry with each new generation over our decades long history. This is part of our legacy and DNA. Most notably, over the past 40 years, the real estate profession has seen the numbers of women and people of color steadily rise. This generational shift is evident in the increasing numbers of women and BIPOC professionals who are heads of real estate companies, real estate entrepreneurs, developers, brokers, bankers and heads of corporate real estate. Over the past 40 years, ULI has also changed and reflects this diversity in the industry. Those with real estate skill and talent from all genders and backgrounds see real estate as a great place to build a career.
ULI will always factor into the pursuit of its mission an unwavering commitment to fairness and respect as we serve our members and the communities in which they live, work and play.
As has always been the case throughout ULI’s history, ULI members have projects in all types of communities, neighborhoods and central districts across the US and the world – communities comprised of people of all backgrounds and demographics. It is inevitable, and thus appropriate it be a consideration, that our work shaping the future of the built environment impacts everyone.
ULI will comply with and be respectful of laws and best practice across a broad spectrum of issues, e.g., tax, corporate, DEI; however, while certain language may change, the energy and positive values of fairness and opportunity will continue to fuel ULI. ULI will continue to embrace fairness, openness and opportunity in the real estate sector – and in all of its endeavors.
These are just some of the many ways ULI is striving to be better and do better, so that our Institute will continue to lead the real estate industry in creating the thriving, equitable communities that we, our children, and grandchildren deserve.
