Policy plays an important role in ensuring healthy housing, neighborhoods and communities. Housing Opportunity 2014: Healthy Housing, Healthy Places, in Denver this May 14-16, will highlight what takes to have a health-supporting policy framework at the federal, state and local level with two sessions:

• The annual Federal Housing Policy Roundup (Thursday at 11 a.m.) will look at federal housing policy through a health lens by exploring the implications of the Affordable Care Act on healthy housing.
• Healthy Communities through Healthy Policy (Thursday at 1:30 p.m.) will share the state and local perspective for supporting health and housing through planning and policy. You’ll hear from national leaders as well as practitioners from Massachusetts, Tennessee and California.

Each of these sessions will feature an outstanding line-up of speakers, including: Ron Terwilliger; Bill Kelly, Stewards of Affordable Housing of the Future; Albert Iannacone, Knox County, Tennessee Health Department; and Elizabeth Schilling, Smart Growth America.
