The Helios Education Campus is approximately 60,000sf build-to-suit, contemporary revision of the garden office consisting of Helios Foundation headquarters of 15,550sf, education non-profit partner’s offices of 26,350sf and 200 person conference center/ Decision Theater/ convening space of 20,330sf building that is conceived to advance education policy and discourse in Arizona and Florida.
The approximately 2-acre site was optimized by placing the 2-story building over a unique daylit 210 car park that was designed to partially adapt to future office when parking requirements diminish. The team accomplished the goal of creating an environmentally and economically sustainable 100-yr+ building by incorporating thoughtfully selected building materials and systems, such as chilled beam ceiling cooling and in-floor warming systems, natural stone and exterior materials requiring no finishes to limit future maintenance.
The Foundation and four other education reform non-profit partners who are given offices on the Campus have approximately 85 professionals and staff back full-time or part-time from the Pandemic, in addition to the 8-10,000 education professionals and civic leaders Helios anticipates hosting.
Helios Education Foundation is a perpetual trust entity with an endowment exceeding $650M that generates interest income for educational reform efforts including support of partner education organizations. The mission was to design and build an environmentally and economically sustainable 100-year+ building that is future-proofed, relevant, flexible and maintainable.
The Campus brings together key educational partners and community leaders to strengthen Helios’ core mission: to enrich the lives of individuals in Arizona and Florida by creating opportunities for success in postsecondary education.
