Global Trade Square consists of 25 stories of office floors, and a shop at ground level within a gross floor area of approximately 20,000 square meters (215,000 sq ft). To capitalize on the positional advantage of the site, the building is designed in a distinctive form inspired by the shape of the Rubik’s Cube to create a dynamic and vital icon in the district. Because this project is one of the first redevelopment projects in the old Wong Chuk Hang industrial district, the architect’s efforts on the architectural aesthetic are expected to pioneer the emphasis on building image in this district.
The development also places emphasis on the high efficiency and spatial quality of the office space, with many units offering pristine views of Sham Wan and Aberdeen Channel. The Rubik’s Cube concept also allows for additional flat roof spaces for various office units—a value-added feature for users. In addition, its tricolor facade finish was designed to capture natural light and create an ever-changing interplay of reflections and luminosity throughout the day and night.
