Intern, Foundation Communications


The advancement communications intern will serve as a resource, providing writing, editing, creative, and administrative support to the ULI Foundation team. The intern may also be extended to assist other constituencies across ULI. The intern will be responsible for assisting with creating and maintaining a variety of web, print, email, and social media assets.


  • Provide project management and administrative support including:
    • Management of the creation, production, and distribution of a variety of print and digital communications
  • Assist with drafting, editing, and proofreading a variety of short and long form communications materials in both print and digital formats.
    • Ensure consistency with the ULI style guidelines.
  • Assist with building brand awareness through social media posts
  • Prepare emails for deployment including: formatting text, adding images and URLs, and pulling recipient lists.
  • Maintain and update the Foundation website including: adding, formatting, and updating content
  • Prepare multimedia content for public dissemination by selecting, cropping, resizing, or editing images
  • Transcribe and classify video content as necessary
  • Assist with overflow work and offer communications support and creative thinking
  • Perform research of source materials utilizing primary and secondary sources, as well as CRM databases in order to verify information.


  • Excellent and versatile writing skills are essential, with a keen understanding of platforms and audience

  • Aptitude with the tools of modern communications
  • Ability to self-start, task-manage, and work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Ability to effectively network and build strong working relationships
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential data
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to remain highly organized while managing multiple tasks
  • Strong computer skills are needed, to include: proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and WordPress
  • Familiarity with Adobe and interest in video, design, or multimedia is highly desired


  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in the DC Metro Area majoring in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field.
  • An interest in real estate, urban planning, and/or philanthropy is ideal
