With a focus on small-scale, community serving retail, this course explores the ways in which the pandemic highlighted the value of essential, small businesses in our communities. Prior to the pandemic, these businesses fueled expansion opportunities while many national brands contracted. Beyond tenanting opportunities, community serving retail serves as a value-add amenity, and infrastructure to the neighborhood. Reaching the goal of tenanting with small businesses require an artful strategy rooted in market conditions and physical opportunities.
