WASHINGTON (May 5, 2022) — The Urban Land Institute (ULI) has received the 2022 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award for the second consecutive year. Announced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the award recognizes ENERGY STAR® partner businesses and organizations that demonstrate superior leadership, innovation, and commitment to environmental protection through energy efficiency. ULI received the award in recognition of the ways it partners with the real estate industry to accelerate progress toward decarbonization and net zero, including through ULI’s Greenprint Center for Building Performance, which is a network of more than 70 real estate owners and investors globally.
“As real estate firms increasingly acknowledge the industry’s responsibility and opportunity to address climate change, ENERGY STAR® continues to prove strong as a fundamental resource for energy efficient and high-performance buildings,” said Marta Schantz, senior vice president of ULI Greenprint. “ULI is proud to be a partner as we make the business case for green buildings both locally and nationally to our real estate members.”
“The ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award is reserved for organizations that provide exceptional leadership in energy management and achieve significant milestones every year towards reducing energy use and impact on the environment,” said Craig Haglund, the EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Program Manager for Commercial Real Estate and Multifamily Sectors. “ENERGY STAR® is honored to have several ULI Greenprint members receive the award, and we look forward to celebrating them throughout the year.”
“We know it’s going to take all of us working together to tackle the climate crisis, and the 2022 ENERGY STAR® award-winning partners are demonstrating what it takes to build a more sustainable future,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “These companies are showing once again that taking action in support of a clean energy economy can be good not only for the environment, but also for business and customers.”
ENERGY STAR® was woven into many of ULI’s 2021 efforts to help its more than 45,000 global real estate members make the business case for green buildings, including:
