High-quality open spaces improve community health, promote social equity, and enhance real estate value. That is why ULI, in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association and The Trust for Public Land, is leading the 10-Minute Walk Campaign, which is supporting the efforts of mayors around the country to ensure that everyone has access to a high-quality park.
As part of this effort, ULI’s Building Healthy Places Initiative hosted a Developing Equitable Parks and Open Space Workshop in Nashville, Tennessee. From April 15-16, 2019, ULI convened a small group of cross-disciplinary experts to inform ULI’s ongoing research efforts and activities focused on parks and open spaces. Participants developed solutions, best practices, and resources for enhancing equitable access to high quality parks and open spaces.
