Rachel MacCleery, vice president for ULI’s Infrastructure Initiative, is attending today’s kickoff meeting for the Infrastructure Financing for Cities Task Force, a collaboration between the Clinton Global Initiative and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
President Bill Clinton, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and other prominent leaders are guiding the high-level task force, which will support mayors in attracting investment into public infrastructure projects that encourage economic growth.
“For many years, U.S. mayors have been the country’s top infrastructure innovators. However, these efforts face many hurdles. ULI is delighted to be part of this important conversation about a constructive path forward for urban infrastructure delivery,” MacCleery said.
Five of the mayors participating in the task force have held ULI Rose Center for Public Leadership fellowships:
- Mayor Michael Nutter of Philadelphia, president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors (2009-10 Rose fellow)
- Mayor Greg Fischer of Louisville (2012-13 Rose fellow)
- Mayor Anthony Foxx of Charlotte (2010-11 Rose fellow)
