About City Creek
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
Developer: City Creek Reserve Inc.
Designer: Hobbs + Black Architects, ZGF et al.
Size: 23 acres
Spanning 23 acres on three blocks in the heart of downtown, City Creek represents the most significant private real estate investment ever made in Salt Lake City. Completed in March 2012, this urban revitalization is serving as a catalyst for broader reinvestment in the central business district and throughout the city. The reestablishment of smaller city blocks and the restoration of open space have resulted in three immense ten-acre blocks made friendlier in terms of scale, accessibility, and mobility.
City Creek is an urban neighborhood that includes inviting walkways incorporating water features, native trees, and vegetation; open gathering spaces; spacious underground parking; and a pedestrian skybridge connecting two blocks. The resulting community has redefined the experience of visiting, living, working, and shopping in downtown. Surrounding blocks are already seeing an increase in nightlife and commercial activity and an expansion of cultural venues. Under the moniker “Downtown Rising,” the Salt Lake Chamber has been promoting since 2007 a long-term vision that includes character districts and signature projects to position the city for strong growth in the 21st century. City Creek is an integral part of that vision.
