Recommendations for the City of Charlotte, North Carolina on the economic development potential, mobility, and equity opportunities for the Lynx Silver Line’s 11th Street Alignment. The panel examines the regional impacts of the Silver Line, investment opportunities, station design, optimizing project financing, as well as engaging key partners.
Sponsored by the City of Charlotte, North Carolina and the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) the panel’s assignment was to examine opportunities offered by the planned Silver Line, including: the potential for economic and station area development along the 11th Street route; whether an alternate route would provide better opportunities for economic development and equity in mobility and transportation access; how to optimize equitable access and the connection between the Blue Line and Silver Line rails; whether an additional Silver Line station in First Ward along the 11th Street route enhances the opportunity for station area development; and, how the city can bring key landholders and partners to the table to support these transit connections.
