Director, Women’s Leadership Initiative

The purpose of the ULI Women’s Leadership Initiative is to promote the advancement of women leaders at ULI and in the real estate industry. At present, the Institute’s membership is 28 percent women and the objective is to increase the number of women members and to directly increase the number of women in positions of ULI leadership, and to indirectly increase the number of women in leadership roles at their companies. To achieve these objectives, the WLI undertakes a variety of activities, including education, sponsorship, networking, and outreach, both internally at ULI and externally through partnerships with other aligned organizations. The WLI leads a number of initiatives throughout the year and also organizes programs and events at the national ULI Fall and Spring Meetings. The WLI also has active initiatives at 43 ULI district councils, the Institute’s local chapters.

ULI is seeking a Director to join the Americas District Council Team to lead the Institute’s WLI activities in leadership, development, and engagement of women members in the real estate industry. This position reports to the Senior Director, District Councils.

The Director will support the WLI committees at both the national and local levels of ULI. The Director will be responsible for implementing the WLI program of work developed in collaboration with the WLI Executive Committee, spearheading new initiatives, and supporting active network of local WLIs. He/she will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other departments within ULI headquarters.

In additionally, this position will also provide support and guidance to the Real Estate Diversity Initiative (REDI) and collaborate with the District Councils team to develop effective network-wide capacity building related to those and other programs.

Senior Associate, Center for Commercial Real Estate Economics/Finance

ULI is seeking a Senior Associate to help support the full range of activities of the ULI Center that focuses on real estate economics and finance.  Reporting to the Center’s Senior Vice President, this position will support the operational components of this program and have the ability to learn and grow into substantive areas.

Some of the on-going products that the Senior Associate would be involved with are Emerging Trends in Real Estate, Real Estate Economic Forecast, Deal Profiles, the McCoy Symposium, and Fall and Spring Meeting sessions. Other products are generated as new initiatives and partnerships are formed.

In addition to strong administrative and project management skills, they must place strong emphasis on: accuracy and attention to details; on-going communication with the Senior Vice President; a proactive and positive approach to the work; and the ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

They must also have strong interpersonal and customer-service skills and be able to interact with senior executives in a respectful and productive manner. Associate, UrbanPlan

ULI is seeking an Associate to join the organization’s UrbanPlan team. The Associate will be involved in work supporting the program ranging from data management, technical assistance, marketing, dissemination, and member engagement with opportunities to support training efforts.
UrbanPlan is a realistic, engaging, and academically demanding classroom-based curriculum administered at high schools and universities, and in a one-day workshop for public officials and community leaders. The program is designed to help high school students learn about where and how land use decisions are made in order to make them better educated citizens. When used at the university level, the goal is to create more sophisticated and effective land use professionals. The community workshops give attendees an opportunity to experience the risk and tradeoffs at play in public-private partnerships and neighborhood investment. UrbanPlan is currently active in over 30 District Councils in the U.S. and Canada and in seven countries globally and relies heavily on local volunteer members who function as advisers and jurors for the process. UrbanPlan has reached over 53,000 high school and university students across the country since 2003.
The UrbanPlan Associate will play an integral role in supporting the overall UrbanPlan program as well as special projects, under the direction of the Senior Associate and the Vice President. The candidate will become familiar with the program and how it works to provide technical assistance to District Councils starting up or growing their UrbanPlan programs. Key projects will include developing webcast content, creating marketing materials, updating web sites, and supporting our equity and inclusion working group and an upcoming curriculum update. In addition, the position will include research work including developing case studies or finding articles on topics relevant to the UrbanPlan curriculum. Finally, the Associate will be responsible for tracking the program’s impact and generating infographics.
