Caroline Shannon is a Strategist in Gensler’s Boston office. As an architect and public health professional, she is dedicated to creating spaces and experiences that support health, equity, and resilience. With her interdisciplinary expertise, she brings both design excellence and evidenced-based acumen to a diverse portfolio of projects. She is experienced in community engagement processes and is engaged in research focused on environmental, health, and equity co-benefits in design. Prior to joining Gensler, she led a range of culturally and technically complex projects, engaging diverse communities to deliver transformative spaces. These include the Memorial to Enslaved Laborers (UVA, with Howeler + Yoon), the University of Global Health Equity (Rwanda, with Shepley Bulfinch), and Park Sitie (Rio de Janeiro, with +D Studio). Outside of the office, she participates in a range of leadership and service activities focusing on expanding where architecture happens, what it can do, and who it is for.
