Associate, ULI Indiana


The Associate for ULI Indiana is intended to provide consistent and dedicated support for district council event planning and execution (20 to 30 professional events per year). In addition, the Associate will process accounts payable for the organization related to both events and other expenses.

The Associate reports to a full-time Senior Director and works closely with contractors and volunteers. There are no other Indiana employees. The Associate must be self-motivated and task-oriented and have a demonstrated ability to work with volunteers to achieve key outcomes for successful event execution.

The expected schedule is 22.5 hours per week, which may vary based on the monthly event schedule. The Associate must be available within regular business hours and a minimum of four partial days per week. A regular schedule will be established as a condition of any employment offer. Such schedule may include a combination of on-site office hours and remote work hours.

This is a part-time, exempt position, located in Indianapolis, Indiana.



  • Create and execute against detailed event checklists for 20 to 30 events per year.
  • Support the ULI Indiana Program Committee, which meets monthly, driving timelines related
    to events.
  • Liaise with other volunteer event champions as needed.
  • Administer ULI event processes, working with ULI preferred provider:
    • Complete ULI pre-event and post-event forms and procedures, and ULI Indiana program
    • Manage ULI event registration processes, including complimentary registrations, badges, and
      on-site registrations.
  • Support committees in providing event vendor research, selection, and management.
  • Support committees in providing for on-site event logistics.
  • Process and manage accounts payable, which are run through ULI’s central office and its
    established processes and systems.
  • Attend ULI Indiana Board and Management Committee meetings and assist in meeting logistics.



  • 0-4 years of related experience with at least 1-2 years of professional experience.
  • Strong event and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to initiate and prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks concurrently and
    completely with responsible follow-through and minimal supervision.
  • Professional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to work with senior
    business and public-sector executives.
  • Ability to approach work from a strategic perspective and identify processes and gaps, yet
    also must be able to identify tactics and execute at a very detailed level.
  • Meticulous attention to both details and deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible if/when plans must be revised.
  • Ability to provide courteous customer service and maintain professional relationships with
    staff, contractors, volunteers, members, and sponsors in fast-paced environment.
  • Desirable: Interest in real estate and land use. Experience in nonprofit administration,
    marketing, and/or community relations.
  • Technology:
    • Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
      Willingness and ability to learn other ULI-provided systems.
    • Desirable: Familiarity and proficiency with graphic programs such as Illustrator,
      Photoshop, and/or similar applications. Familiarity and proficiency with website
      applications such as WordPress and/or bulk email applications.
  • Ability to attend early-morning and evening events throughout the central Indiana region as
    needed; provide own transportation.
  • Occasional travel to ULI national or regional events.
  • Attend ULI required trainings, learning and maintaining aptitude in ULI-required systems
    and policies.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds may be required for on-site event execution.



  • BA/BS preferred.
