Why Armstrong Place?

With 370,200 square feet of higher density residential and 7,600 square feet of ground floor retail, Armstrong Place Townhomes and Senior Housing is an important catalyst for revitalization of the Third Street corridor in San Francisco. This AIA-award-winning affordable development includes two components: Armstrong Place Senior Housing, a rental community for seniors, and Armstrong Townhomes, with below-market-rate homeownership for first-time homebuyers. Armstrong Place Senior provides 116 affordable apartments along with landscaped courtyard areas, a community room, and commercial space for community services and retail shops. Twenty-three of the apartments are set aside for formerly homeless seniors participating in San Francisco’s Direct Access to Housing program, who receive intensive social services provided by the Providence Foundation of San Francisco, which will enable them to transition to independent living. Amenities include a fitness room, common green space with community gardens and children’s play area, and a community lounge.
