May marks the beginning of the annual month-long observance and celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. AAPI Heritage Month is a time to both reaffirm and uphold the historical importance and influence of the AAPI community in the United States and beyond. The AAPI community is extremely diverse: AAPI is an umbrella term that embraces the entire continent of Asia, including East, Southeast, and South Asia, as well as the Pacific Islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia.
In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, ULI is excited to celebrate its AAPI members, colleagues, and communities through various forums. In celebration of WLI’s 10th Anniversary, ULI will be amplifying the voices of women of AAPI descent, sharing their stories, impact, and achievements. On May 19, ULI Los Angeles will host a panel focused on the Visibility of Asians in Commercial Real Estate (CRE). Featured speakers include esteemed Asian CRE trailblazers who represent notable institutional investment managers and are involved with ULI at the Global and Americas levels.
ULI is committed to pursuing unrelenting efforts to shape the built environment toward diverse, equitable, and inclusive communities. We continue to believe that current and future industry actions can—and must—remedy the impact of exclusionary practices that have affected the AAPI community in the real estate industry and thereby create access and foster unity.
We urge ULI members to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month and follow along with us across our platforms in the coming weeks. For additional information about DEI at ULI, contact [email protected].
