Change for Good: Lessons from ULI's District Council Task Forces for Health and Social Equity Now Available

Member-led task forces organized by ULI district councils in Chicago, Phoenix, Sacramento, and Tampa worked during 2019 and 2020 to address local policy and regulatory barriers to the creation of healthier and more equitable places. Change for Good features executive summaries of each task force, including observations, findings, and recommendations. The report also documents common themes and takeaways gleaned from these experiences.

Team Representing Three Toronto-Area Universities Wins 2021 ULI Hines Student Competition

A redevelopment plan for a Kansas City, Missouri, site presented by a team, called Fusion, composed of students from Ryerson University, York University, and the University of Toronto has taken top honors in the 2021 Urban Land Institute (ULI) / Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition. This year’s competition asked students for proposals to create a thriving mixed-use, mixed-income area in the East Village neighborhood in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

Final Showdown – UrbanPlan National Competition
In 2020, ULI held its first-ever UrbanPlan National Student Competition. Ten teams of high school students who completed UrbanPlan in 2020 at school joined. They went through the UrbanPlan exercise again but responded to an additional set of criteria from the city that prompted them to consider COVID-19 and its impact on a community.
