One Community at a Time: Oklahoma City
As we commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing on April 19, 1995, in Oklahoma City, we reflect on the lives lost, but also the incredible journey of unity, resilience, and hope for the future. Just months after the bombing, ULI was asked to bring together a group of unbiased real estate experts to provide recommendations to Oklahoma City leaders on how to rebuild downtown as well as how to memorialize the tragedy and honor the victims. The panel recommended a memorial at the bombing sites as well as ways to protect cherished historic structures to heal and rebuild the city. Here is their story. For over 75 years, ULI has been helping communities rebuild after tragedies and find solutions to their most pressing land use challenges through our Advisory Services program.
