At the 2019 ULI Fall Meeting in Washington, D.C., the Women’s Leadership Initiative awarded four $2,500 “sprout grants” to District Council WLI chapters in support of new and innovative programming that will promote the visibility and number of women within ULI and the industry. WLI also awarded $5,000 to ULI St. Louis, which will host the 2020 WLI Regional Summit. Read more about the winners below!

ULI Atlanta: The List: Influential Women in Atlanta Real Estate & Development

To address the lack of women presenters at industry events, ULI Atlanta will curate “The List.” This will become known as the most prestigious collection of top-level female leaders in Atlanta, showing the industry the incredible women working in front of and behind the scenes in real estate, development and planning. Recognition by ULI and WLI will give the women selected for The List the clout and confidence to share their stories of success so others can learn and thrive.

ULI British Columbia: WLI Certificate in Leadership

The WLI Certificate in Leadership is a WLI-run program designed to provide valuable, applicable leadership skills training to women in any stage of their careers. The pilot program was launched in 2019 with three topics: Negotiation, Public Speaking and Media Training, and Facilitation. This certificate will be awarded to ULI BC women who attend all three skill-based workshops in 2020. ULI BC plans to continue the program in subsequent years.

ULI Cleveland: Women’s Launch Pad: Mentoring Through University Outreach

This program will connect senior women in the Cleveland real estate community with young women in undergraduate programs at universities in northeast Ohio. Through four educational panels, female students will have the opportunity to hear senior women highlight the following topics, Women in Leadership, Career Preparation, Goal Setting, and Personal Growth and Happiness.

ULI Colorado: Breaking the Glass Ceiling – Building a Pipeline for Future Female Leaders

This WLI led program pairs mid- to senior-level career professionals with industry peers and executives to help foster effective leadership through mentorship from seasoned and proven executives for women in the real estate development industry. This six-month, small-scale immersion builds peer and executive relationships, promotes solution-based discussion on real estate issues, and offers critical leadership advice and training that leads to further career satisfaction and success.

ULI St. Louis (host): 2020 WLI Regional Summit

ULI St. Louis will host the second annual event August 5 to 7, 2020, following up on the major success of the 2019 WLI Regional Summit held in Louisville, KY. More information will be available at wlisummit.uli.org.
